AMEC – Gruyere Goldroom Thermal and LEV extraction modelling (2018)

Cadia also undertook the design and fluid computational fluid dynamic modelling of Gruyeres goldroom extraction and ventilation systems. This included thermal modelling of flows, equipment selection and preparation of a detailed CFD report for submission to DMIRS as part of the approvals process.

Part of the systems delivery included ducting extraction designs for the barring and calcine
ovens using Cadia’s proprietyary high capcture rate FEMS extraction technology which allows
for high peripheral capture of fume and volatiles. Cadia also supplied the design and
selection of the ventilation airconditioning system including use of our Ammonia dispersion
technology for the electrowinning cells.

Under recommendation by our engineers on the thermal benefits of lining the goldroom with
aluminise insulation, the site construction team installed the cladding after modelling
showed a 5֯C temperature reduction on upper levels during the peak of summer.
