Cadia undertook the full design of a 1.7km underground buried natural gas consumer gas pipeline, including pressure reducing station, to replace the existing Kleenheat LPG services.
The scope included the engineering design and specification, project management and supervision of the civil contractors, pressure testing and witness inspection of the gas line and conversion of the gas trains and burners for the elution heater, regeneration kiln and goldroom furnace – including rebadging in conjunction with Energy Safety inspectors.
Design included development of a specification document for the gas line, fluid modelling for friction and pressure losses and embedment calculations for the flexible pipe burial. The site was one of the first to embrace gas line delivery through flexible buried pipelines, which significantly delivered the project under original cost estimate for steel piping reticulation.
